Im not deaf but my mother said asl would get me no where and i would never use it i still practiced it and one day a man came by our house to pick up something from a garage sale he had a dead 5 year old daughter and he brought his mom to translate for us he said he would only sign so his daughter always had someone to talk to and so she wouldnt feel different i could talk to them but only very little i hope to learn more asl to help epople feel welcome and never alone, to always speak what they want and know there is someon to hear rhem
