For hearing individuals, you can use basic English to communicate, as it is likely the language they will be familiar with. You can also use sign language, which is the primary language of most deaf individuals in the USA. You can take online classes to learn sign language or find classes in your local area. You can also look into using a communication device such as a voice amplifier or text-to-speech software to communicate with hearing and deaf individuals alike. With these devices, you can communicate with individuals who are unable to understand spoken language or have difficulty

      Hi Yael! I am also looking for an ASL practice partner. I am new to ASL, so I may not be too much help with grammar or vocabulary. I have been following the online courses from Dr. Bill Vicars on Lifeprint.com and know it would be super helpful to begin signing with someone "in person" to get used to seeing and understanding more than the scripted prompts from the course.  I am in NY so there is a time difference, but if you're interested we can try to set a time to sign together
