Hello, all. My name is KatyLou_371, and I’ve been teaching myself ASL for about 5 years. It was love at first sign. I have wanted to be an interpreter since I started learning the language. My plan is to go back to school and become certified.

I don’t have much experience with Deaf Culture, but I know a good bit of textbook information about it. I have had several interactions with Deaf people, including customers, who I have interpreted for, to take and order. Since I don’t have many interactions with the Deaf, I don’t have my Sign Name yet.

I'm not sure exactly where I want to interpret, or what kind of environment I want to work in; I just know in my heart it’s something I’m destined for. I can’t see myself happy in any other career field.

I do have some questions for anyone who is advanced in ASL, and would greatly appreciate any answers.

Hey Katy! My name is Skylar, I have been signing for about three years self taught and now in college taking classes to be an interpreter. Just like you I fell in love with signing when I first started. I find the language beautiful and love being immersed in it. I have met a lot of deaf people from going to events and interact with deaf people regularly so I do have my sign name. My plan is to transfer to a school where they have a strong interpreter community as well as Deaf community. I would love to get to know you and sign with you. My email is [email protected]

Feel free to email me anytime.

    • When searching for a good calculator app, specifically one that can handle calculations like the pythagorean theorem calculator angle https://calculatorprofessional.com/pythagorean-theorem-calculator, look for apps with high user ratings and robust features. Read reviews to see if other users mention its accuracy and usability for trigonometric calculations. This approach will help you find a reliable and user-friendly Pythagorean theorem calculator for angles.
    • Hi! I just started ASL today with great interest. As of now, I only know the basics including the alphabets, numbers 1-20, a few colors, and pronouns. Although I will only be learning on my free time, I still hope that I will be able to make friends here and learn together with them! 💙
    • Hey there, I'd be interested to chat and see if our levels match well for practicing together Message me!
    • I have not started learning yet, but am needing to get motivated to start! I have a hearing processing disorder and my Dr encouraged me to learn. I'd love new friends to learn with!
