Hello!!

I'm Katie!
A long time ago, may be three years ago, I was involved in an interpreting program. But I realized that the program was not a good fit for me personally. I stepped down, transferred schools, and I actually just graduated from the University of Redlands in California.

Now I want more practice with sign because my skills have suffered a lot from not practicing; it has been a long time since I've signed with anyone who also knows ASL. So I'm really excited to meet ASL students, Deaf,  and other members of the signing community.

Thanks!!

Hi Katie!

I am hard of hearing, but have never been pushed by anyone to learn to sign, so never did. My hearing though seems to just continue to get worse, so I'm pushing myself. I would love someone to practice with!

I am in the beginners stage, and only know a handful of signs, can have short conversations depending on the topic.

I am thinking of starting a club at Job Corps, where I'm studying, and think that this kind of video chat site would be a good idea to help others learn also.

Give me a shout out of you're interested in chatting or signing.  :)

Have a great day!

Hi,

I hope you're doing well. I'm Celina Collot, Project Manager at Collot Baca Subtitling (www.collotbaca-subs.com). I'm contacting you because we have a project for translating several hours of interviews spoken in American Sign Language into English, and we would like to know if you'd be available and interested in taking it. There may also be some dialogue in spoken English, which we need transcribed as well.

We need the dialogues to be timecoded and the speakers to be identified. This will be done in our own software, which is specialized for creating scripts. We will provide proper training for this, of course.

The available rate is $5 USD per minute of video content. The subject of the interviews is deaf people talking about their lives.

At the moment we have 3 videos, each one about 14 minutes in duration, and need them all by next Friday November 1st, 18:00 CEST. These three videos in particular consist on young people chatting in a bar.

Should you be interested in taking one or more of the videos, please feel free to send us your CV at [email protected]

I look forward to your reply.

Regards,

Celina Collot

    • Hi my name is Andrew Kosinski and I work at Sunbelt Staffing. I am working with a school near Peabody, MA and they need a ASL teacher for the upcoming school year  I wanted to reach out and see if there are any ASL teachers or anybody that knows any ASL teachers looking for work in this forum.  I am going to attach a link to my job post if you would like to apply or feel free to respond to me here!   https://www.sunbeltstaffing.com/jobs/in-need-of-asl-teacher-in-peabody-ma-area/hc/5264
    • Hi Yael! I am also looking for an ASL practice partner. I am new to ASL, so I may not be too much help with grammar or vocabulary. I have been following the online courses from Dr. Bill Vicars on Lifeprint.com and know it would be super helpful to begin signing with someone "in person" to get used to seeing and understanding more than the scripted prompts from the course.  I am in NY so there is a time difference, but if you're interested we can try to set a time to sign together
    • That's great to hear about the website you mentioned, spreadthesign.com! It's fantastic to have a resource that allows people to learn different sign languages, including ASL and BSL. The inclusion of 3D signs adds another dimension to the learning experience. It's important to recognize that having a resource allowing people to learn different sign languages, including ASL and BSL, is fantastic each sign language may have its own unique grammar and sentence structure, as you mentioned with Port
