Hi everyone.  I've been working on learning Auslan for a while now but the COVID situation has got me started again after some time off.  I've found a friend who wants to learn with me but would welcome any others who'd like to get in some practise.  I grew up with a deaf sister but because my parents were advised not to learn to sign none of the family did.  The misguided theory behind this was that my sister would grow up more capable of "getting along in the outside world" if the household was non-signing.   It didn't work; it just made her isolated and lonely.  But that was 50 years ago and I'm pleased to see that things have gotten better.  The world needs good communication more ever before.
