<p>

</p>

<p>
	unfortunately, using two popular and seemingly well respected BSL online dictionaries has got me this far:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	sound over-thinking fingerspelling: d i s o r d e r
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	sound process regulation (shaking head to signify disregulation)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	anyone got a better idea? Would be a great help ! <br />
	also this is my first post . I don’t do introduction posts, so just saying hi!

	Hi everyone,
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#2a3c42;font-size:14px;">
	I'm about to do my first exam where i will be introducing myself in BSL. Unfortunately, our teacher hasn't explained sentence structure very well, and although I've researched a lot online I'm worried I may be getting it all wrong !
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#2a3c42;font-size:14px;">
	I wondered if someone would be able to restructure my script below into BSL sentences so I can study and learn from it, it's quite long but I would really appreciate it. Many thanks guys!!
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#2a3c42;font-size:14px;">
	"Hello, my name is Ann. I am 27 years old. I work as a bartender. I am studying an MA in therapy. I live in Essex, it took me 30 mins by car to arrive here. I have a sister called Maya, she is 30 years old and lives in London with her husband. My parents also live in Essex. My dad's name is Jake, he is 58 years old. My mum's name is Leah, she is 54 years old. I have two pets, a cat called tom and a dog called Harry.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#2a3c42;font-size:14px;">
	I love travelling, last week I went on holiday to Portugal for 5 days. It was sunny but windy. Last year I went to Japan, Vietnam and Thailand for 9 weeks, Japan was my favourite because of the food. In Vietnam, I took the bus a lot, my longest journey was 12 hours.

	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	I'm just starting on my BSL course journey. I'm wondering if there is relevance to which side of your body you might place a hand sign, or relevance to which direction you might move your hand?
</p>

<p>
	Having just started the course, I have the following questions from the Colour section, for example.
</p>

<p>
	1: With the sign for "silver" -  when your hands break from the "S" - does it matter if your dominant hand is the one going up or down? I see in the video that the dominant hand goes up, but does it matter? With this particular sign, it feels more natural for the dominant hand to go down for me -  I am wondering if this would be confusing?
</p>

<p>
	2: With the sign for "white", I see in the video that you make the sign on the same side of your chest as your hand. Can the sign be made with your dominant hand on the opposite side of your chest - or does this mean something else or would it be confusing? I almost find this sign awkward to do on the same side of my chest as my arm!
</p>

<p>
	3: With the sign for "colour" - does it matter if you circle clockwise or anticlockwise?
</p>

<p>
	Thank you to anyone who might answer... it will help me to progress correctly <span class="ipsEmoji">😁</span>

	Hello!
</p>

<p>
	Is there a sign in BSL for 'linguist'? I've done a lot of online research to try and find out if there is one, but so far the closest I've come up with is 'language-person'.
</p>

<p>
	I'm working on my Translation Masters dissertation, and as part of it I'm translating a book from French to English that has a Deaf character in. My conundrum comes from the fact that a character's sign names is 'the linguist' (when translated literally from French), but I've not been able to find out if this is a sign that exists in BSL. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it! <span><img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" height="20" src="https://www.signlanguageforum.com/bsl/uploads/emoticons/smile.png" srcset="https://www.signlanguageforum.com/bsl/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" /></span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>Additionally, am I right in thinking that BSL doesn't use determiners like 'the'? So this character's sign name wouldn't have 'the' in it?</span>
</p>

<p>
	<span>Thanks!!</span>

	Hi guys! My name is Beth and I have enrolled in the BSL level 1 course online, very much enjoying it and have spoken to my family and friends about my new interest. My brother who is directing a play has asked me to translate a paragraph of a song into BSL for the Christmas show ELF. Any help is appreciated as I am worried about doing things wrong as I am still very new to this. I will copy the paragraph of the song below. Thanks in advance <span><img alt=":)" data-emoticon="" height="20" src="https://www.signlanguageforum.com/bsl/uploads/emoticons/smile.png" srcset="https://www.signlanguageforum.com/bsl/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" /></span>

<p>
	Hi there,
</p>

<p>
	I am a midwife, and I'm learning BSL, so for my 'introduce myself' section, I'm looking for the correct/concise sign. What I can think of myself is 'mother' (two taps with four fingers on the temple, dominant side) 'baby' (cradling a baby) 'nurse' (draw cross on outer aspect of non-dominant arm), but maybe that is just laughable. Is there an 'official' sign for midwife in BSL? I would love to know.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks for you help.
