Hello! My name is Ellie. I have wanted to learn sign language for a long time. I have been deaf in one ear most of my life and have left it far too long. I was inspired to start learning during lockdown and sadly didn't get very far. Recently I am inspired by Rose on Strictly to get on with it. It is a beautiful language and so useful. I work in the Arts with children who struggle to communicate and I feel passionately that it would really help everyone.

Hi, sorry, it seems this post is a bit old now but I've just seen it and thought I'd add my two penneth. There is a sign for parents referring to any combination of either gender and can be used for non binary parent/s as well. Using the peace sign wiggle your hand from side to side to suggest two people accompanied with the lip pattern 'parents'. Ben

Use both hand flat hand shape upright facing your body. Move your fingers back and forth. Like you would if you were welcoming someobe. Hope this makes sense
