  1. https://www.famlingo.co.uk/ The Famlingo app is a mobile library of short video clips demonstrating British Sign Language (BSL) signs with spoken English. It would be especially useful for people who are learning signs for Early Years to ensure you are learning BSL signs rather than ASL ones. This means you can also use these signs to communicate with members of the Deaf Community who use BSL. The app allows subscribers to access a library of over 250 high-quality sign videos that are demonstrated by a Level 6 BSL Qualified signer. The topics covered in the library are: Alphabet Animals Colours Conversation Family Feelings and Emotions Food and Drink Numbers Questions Toys and Activities Transport and Vehicles Weather For more info on how to access the app, please contact: [email protected]

When I was 16, I went to Sheffield College to learn BSL (15 years ago). During those 5 years, I had 3 amazing Deaf BSL tutors who gave me a strong start in my learning and are still part of my journey now! It’s rare to find highly qualified BSL tutors who can also give you their personal experience of Deaf History/Culture and what it is like being Deaf and living in the Hearing world. The college had been offering the Signature BSL qualifications every year but for an unknown reason, they decided to withdraw the courses in August 2018 meaning there wasn’t anywhere for people to get the high-quality BSL teaching that was available before in Sheffield. I’m excited that I can help offer others the same opportunity I had when I was a teenager, to learn from one of my tutors who still has a big impact on my life! She is hoping to start up teaching BSL and this is a taster of her future lessons! Please, could you invite anyone local to Sheffield who might like to learn sign language and share with your friends! Thanks Jules
  4. Hey! I'd suggest asking in this group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2204346984/ Is there a reason you'd like an Interpreter? I'm just wondering if you'd get some questions about why it can't be a native signer or Deaf person.
