  3. Hi guys, I have recently started learning BSL - extremely beginner!! I am wondering when signing and talking at the same time do I say what I sign or say the sentence. For instance, when singing “name your what” do I say ‘name your what’ or ‘what’s your name’ Hopefully this makes sense!!
  4. Hi, My name is Ellen Dodkins, I have been interested in learning about sign language since I was at secondary school as my school had a hearing resource base due to having deaf students within our school population. Sign language was very normalised at my school and I had the opportunity to learn both Level 1 and Level 2 BSL while at school. I have signed up to this resource to refresh my memory of sign language and help me to be able to communicate within the community better. Hope I can develop my understanding of sign language and be able to communicate within the community even better. Ellen

  6. Hi! My name is Paige. I am dying to practice signing. Please reply if you would like to practice with me in the BSL Beginners chat room. Happy studying!
  7. Hi there! My name is Paige, I am a nineteen year old student and I am currently learning BSL online during this corona virus lock down period. I would love to get the chance to practice and develop my skills alongside you through video calls where we can practice what we know and even discuss issues or new ways of learning BSL. I can be a little shy at first, so please excuse me if I am a little quiet. I am excited to begin this journey with you!
  8. Hi there. I'm Amy and I'm brand new to BSL, I'm currently going to weekly Level 1 classes. I already knew the alphabet as my Nana had a poster of the signs in her house but I've been wanting to learn BSL properly for most of my life really. I have only now been able to afford classes. My Nana is hard of hearing (80% deaf in one ear and 50% deaf in the other), and my dad is starting to lose his hearing more too. So mostly I'd like to learn it for them as my Nana knows some BSL and since starting this course my dad has said he's going to go on a course too. My hearing isn't great either, it's only gonna get worse, and I'm on the autistic spectrum so sometimes I feel non-verbal so I'm hoping BSL will help me in that aspect too. Anyway I've waffled for long enough. Nice to meet y'all.
  9. Hi, I am learning Level 1 currently and have some exams on March 25th, so looking for someone to help me practice, via Facebook, Skype or Webcam. I am a beginner, so don't worry if you are too, I really need practice reading fingerspelling. Thanks for any replies, Aidan 🙂
  10. Hi all, I'm doing level 1 now, started January 2018 and about to do 102. I'm deaf (profound now) and teaching hubby after class each week and it's helped a lot already when I'm not wearing my hearing aids. I'm around during the day and as hubby works shifts lots of evenings and would be happy to video practice, Skype?
  11. Hi, I have just completed level one and want to practice before getting stuck into level two! I noticed that there were soooo many beginners who wanted to practice. This website seems to provide a space for video chat now! Shall we get organised??? Maybe on Sunday evenings at 6pm BST we could meet in the online video chat rooms to practice. Anyone up for it? Thanks and hope to sign with you soon! Hope
