Hello, Hello~ I've been dabbling in BSL since this time last year (no notable improvements- my own fault haha), but I've taken it back up again! This time I've added another motivation to the mix. Before it was simply because I enjoy learning languages and want to do better in terms of every-day accessibility. I still strongly believe that BSL and/or SSE should be taught in schools just how we are taught Foreign languages... Anyway! I've side tracked! In the year since joining, I've actually become a roller skate coach, teaching people in London, there are some qualified BSL skate coaches as well as deaf skaters who use BSL, so what I want is to just casually use it and get hearing people out of their bubble and more used to seeing signs. Plus, if we're to use "made up signs" anyway, might as well use real British Signs. {In skating, especially in a rink when the music is loud, us marshals use whistles and signs to signal each other and the guests, so makes sense to use SSE or BSL. So if anyone knows of a London Roller Skater who is deaf or signs, or has any recommendations for me, the channels open ^^ Okay, I'll stop waffling now haha

Hey yall! Im new to learning BSL properly as i have only being doing them online on youtube. I am ready to learn my heart out and i love the community here. I dont have any ear troubles of my own but i thought it would be nice to learn BSL for anyone who is. I am not new however to medical stuff as i have 2 conditions, Loyiz detez syndrome or LDS and Scoliosis as some will know more about. I know how tuff it is to find someone who understands what im going through and i want to be the person that understands what deaf people are going through. I have already done Level 1 and im ready to take it to the next level. Thanks for listening to my story. Bye xxx

I'm currently doing BSL level 2 as my daughter is deaf. For the first time this week we had a lecture on the grammatical and syntax difference between BSL and English and SSE. As many of you will no doubt know, the word order is very different. And confusing. So I now have a suspicion why my daughter at 11 has an English reading age of 5. Why would you teach two contradictory methods at the same time? It just defies logic. So my daughter is being taught English, SSE and BSL. I have now asked a professor of sign linguistics, the NDCS, the local autjhority and various support groups. I have received nothing so fa rthat explains this. Anyone here got any ideas?

Hello 😁 My name is Nicholas Bieber (no, I'm not related to Justin Bieber, ha!), I'm 25-years-old and I have moderate hearing loss. I have to wear hearing aids every day, but fortunately I can hear with them, and they have enabled me to mix with fully hearing people and enjoy my career as a journalist. Sadly though, for so many people this is not the case 💔 Many, like my grandparents, are fully deaf and will never get to experience the special emotions that come with listening to music 😔 So I've done something special (I hope)! 🎶📹 I learned British Sign Language as a young boy, so I could comminicate with my grandparents, and ended up getting a qualification in it (in levels 1 and 2). I have now started a special YouTube channel where I interpret songs into sign language! I feel sign language should be a compulsory subject in schools, as it is just as important as learning Spanish, French and German.
