Hi 

I am a hearing person, but with tinnitus. I have always been interested in sign language, but recently have been challenged to learn it properly. Firstly as I have realised that not speaking BSL alienates a lot of people within my own country! I work in a  Polling station during elections and one chap who votes regularly is profoundly deaf and he needs an interpreter to vote - I'm hoping to be able to sign a bit for him in a weeks time. I'm also a Christian and love singing songs with signing - particularly in a group environment where I can learn better.. I dream of a time where every church (and every place of worship) has signers to assist people :)

Also my mum has Alzheimers and someone from the Alzheimers society said a good way to prevent/delay the disease is to learn a new language ... so why not BSL!!

      Hi my name is Emma and I am learning BSL from Australia. I have completed my Diploma of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and have started learning BSL. If anyone is not a complete beginner and would like to practice that would be great! Australia is approx 9 hours ahead of London time...so hopefully we can find a suitable time:)

      Hi, I am new to this forum. I am currently doing an online on-demand course along with a friend. I studied modern languages many years ago and am really interested to learn BSL - it is such an interesting and expressive language. I am also deaf in one ear (since early childhood) so am conscious that my hearing could worsen at some point.
