Does anyone actually use this Website???

Recommended Posts

Does anyone actually use this website to communicate with each other? Every time I am on a rarely see others post or commune with each other or occupy the video chat rooms.

Currently I have hit a wall in my lessons and would like to actually try to practice beginner sign language with another user. I have learned the majority of the signs from the now completed course, give or take a few. And would like to practice full conversation with other individuals (questions, day to day talk, how to correctly sign this particular sentence, etc).

Thanks for taking the time to read this. And please reach out if interested.

I try come on weekly if I can I've passed my level three. It depends what's going on in my life. Maybe a Facebook group would work better? We may get more people to practice with also. I've just created a group on Facebook called BSL forum if anyone wants to join 😊

hey, I am pretty new to this also. I think the only way I will remember all the signing is if I put it into use. I feel like I have forgotten all i've learnt so far!

I am going to keep coming on here and replying to some video etc hopefully that will help 🥴

Hi Naomi,

I have done the beginners course and thought it went well but I seemed to have forgotten loads. so I am now going to re do all the course as well as doing lots more online. So I have now signed up to these chat rooms in hoping I will be able to practise with other beginners ☺️

Maxine, how far have you got with the course so far? I'm very early on. are you finding it harder to make signs or read them?

Hi! I'm new and I just posted a thread in the introductions section. I'm only on the very first lesson of my course, so I'm not really at a level to practice with someone else yet! But hopefully as I progress through the lessons, eventually I'll get good enough to maybe practice through video chat or something. The course recommended me to only do one new lesson a week, though, so it might take a while ...

Good morning all. I can do an hour on Saturday (I told the wife she can play on my Nintendo Switch during this time 😛 ).

What time(s) work best for you? I can also host using my work Webex account so will just need email addresses for all those that would like to join.

    • I suppose it's a cliche to say that I've always wanted to learn sign language, but never found the time. I also teach scuba diving in my spare time, and I'm hoping to make diving more accessible to those who are deaf or hard of hearing. I'm only a couple of lessons in but with a bit of practice I hope to be able to speak to you (in BSL) soon.
    • I’m Harriet, I’ve recently started learning BSL but I’ve been meaning to do so for years. I’m in uni studying psychology in order to be a therapist and I would love to learn this beautiful language in order to be able to help a wider range of people :)
    • Hi. I am looking to learn sing language. I tried to learn a few months ago, but life got in the way. This will be really useful to me I work with the public. I find that it is taking me a long time to get to grips with some of the signs. I am looking forward to meeting you all
    • Hello, I’ve been learning BSL for a few weeks now and I am really enjoying it.
    • Hi, I'm new to BSL and struggling to get things to stick. DO you find song signing a better learning platform than the online tutorials?  Thanks Michael
    • Hey peeps, I'm new to BSL and trying my hardest to retain the little I have learnt. I'm really looking forward to the journey ahead and meeting new people on here. I currently live in Lincolnshire (South) and I work within the Urgent and Emergency sector of the NHS as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. There are two passions I have which are healthcare and motorbikes. Hope to speak with some of you soon.
    • HI, my name is Michael and I work in the health industry within the NHS.  I completed a Masters Degree a couple of years ago and decided that BSL would be my next venture and as I work in Emergency and Urgent Care, some of my patients are part of the deaf community and to be able to communicate with them in a way that it makes them feel at ease, warms my heart. BSL enables me to give my patients the best possible journey at their time of need, this is why it is important for me to learn BSL and maintain a good standard and understanding of the language and community. To be honest, I am at the beginning of my BSL journey and I do not have anyone around me that can speak in BSL so I am looking to network on this forum to find friends to speak with, learn and share experiences.  Hopefully some of you will reach out and we'll have a great journey together.
    • Hi my name is Soobie and I am just starting out (again ) in BSL. I work with an international dance company that speaks BSL , ASL and ISL so I am trying to learn BSL. Also I had a Great Aunt who was Deaf and remember learning some sign from her as a child so it's a nice connection.  she used to teach me swear words ,much to my mothers horror!
