Hi there,

My name is Ruth, I started learning BSL in early lockdown but didn't get beyond some basics, so I've started again this month and intend to do level 1 and 2. My motivation is a) I love languages, and think that BSL is a beautiful language, and b) it aligns with my professional commitments to accessible & inclusive practice (in the arts, where I work).

I really need to practice to help retain the learning, and wondered whether people know about online practice sessions that I could join? Obviously I'm a beginner but I do learn fast 😄

  Hi! 👋 I'm Darryl.. Nice too meet you all.. Why am I learning BSL? Well, I'm 50% deaf in my right ear, and have been since the age of 3. I also have constant tinnitus and have had for as long as I can remember. But that's not my motivation for learning.   I definitely think that schools should teach non-verbal communication to all students to some extent, for inclusivity of people like your son avsamp and because any level of any language is a great skill! I've been teaching lots of my friends the BSL finger alphabet

  I am doing my Duke of Edinburgh certification at the moment and need to learn a new skill for it. I chose to learn sign language because it's something I've never learnt before and I love languages, I think any language is an amazing skill to have.
