Hey there! I am 26 years old and new into BSL. Since I started the course (already on lesson 4), I realized that my goal of retaining the signs learnt would be best achieved by practicing them. So far I am learning in front of the mirror in order to manage body coordination while signing so that I make sure I am learning the correct way of doing the signs. Apart from that info I am fully hearing and wanted to learn BSL as another meaningful way to connect with people. Are there any new learners interested in practicing?

I'm interested in practising with someone - perhaps we could fit in some regular short zoom chats? just 10 mins weekly or something to keep us on track?

Hiya,

I'm in the same boat and would be up for a weekly zoom practice for 10 minutes also?

Heyyy LindyM and sarahf84,

Sure, I think we can all figure something out together, what do you think about it?

Would love if both of you would let me know what kind of schedule would work best for you! For me, it's weekends mostly, but am up for adjustments if needed.

Kind regards,

Doby

If anyone is not a complete beginner and would like to practice that would be great! Australia is approx 9 hours ahead of London time...so hopefully we can find a suitable time:)

I studied modern languages many years ago and am really interested to learn BSL - it is such an interesting and expressive language. I am also deaf in one ear (since early childhood) so am conscious that my hearing could worsen at some point.

    • I have always been really passionate about languages, and a few years ago I came across Christine Sun Kim Ted "The enchanting music of sign language" and it sparked my curiosity about SL. At that moment I knew nothing about it, I genuinely felt so surprised "how can it be that such a fascinating form of communication is so forgotten by the hearing folks???" A few years later after that (I had been working in improving and mastering my English), and especially since I am moving to Scotland i
