Hi everyone, I'm Ruth @ ragsandtatters. I'm a specialist HLTA, and because I work with students who have visual impairment I learned Braille. After that BSL seemed like a good and natural progression, so I have learned up to level 2. But since I don't work with any BSL users, I have forgotten a lot of it. I think it's a beautiful, interesting and clever language and I don't want to lose it all, so I'm studying this course by way of reminding myself of the basics. Really enjoying it so far, it's lovely to watch it being done well.

      Hi,  I am learning BSL in order to better support the students going through university. I have just been offered a job as a student support worker, to assist deaf and/or sight impaired students and, although not a requirement of the job, I feel it would be beneficial to both myself and the students if I can at least sign some basics.

      Hi all, I am just doing the Intro to BSL and would like to use this forum to practice what I have learned so far. Anyone else like me? I have no deaf friends or other people that I know can sign. I have only done finger spelling, numbers and colours, introductions, jobs and places. But I am working my way through it. I feel like joining or watching others chat might help cement things into my brain a bit more 🙂

      Hello to all of you. I made the choice to learn BSL 3 years ago and joined up to the next available class that was starting. I have now just started my level 3 but am feeling very overwhelmed by it compared to level 1 and 2. I have been using what I learned before to teach signing to my team mates in work and we have a better relationship with the local deaf community because of this.   I am really happy to be here with you all as we continue to learn and advance.
