im new to all this and want to continue for practice

Recommended Posts

hi, im Rob and im new to BSL and being half deaf due to nerve deafness from birth i have finally gotten round to learning the art.

i have completed both the practical course on http://www.british-sign.co.uk/ and i did a centre of excellence theory course to which i have passed both and now have a taste for it.

I am looking to continue even if its to chat and get some practice (as i dont have anyone in my family or friends who actually knows BSL) and would like to continue on, so that is where all you lovely people come in. If you want to practice with me over a video call then drop me an email on here and we can go from there.

thanks in advance and have a good christmas

    • Because I think this might be the most useful phrase for any people who are learning any sign language!
    • Good morning everyone!  I am deaf-born ASL signer who is interested in learning BSL.  Long time ago I taught myself BSL (and also JSL) alphabet by heart, but never got to learning BSL itself.  I am looking to set up a language exchange video sessions with native BSL signers if possible.  I am interested in learning more about deaf culture and deafness in UK. Hopefully I'll make some friends here!  Nice to meet you.
    • Hi all, I'm doing level 1 now, started January 2018 and about to do 102.  I'm deaf (profound now) and teaching hubby after class each week and it's helped a lot already when I'm not wearing my hearing aids.  I'm around during the day and as hubby works shifts lots of evenings and would be happy to video practice, Skype?
    • Hi there I send out a 'sign of the day' courtesy of the BSL site daily to my tutor groups.  The students love it.  We have a special assembly coming up in June and I would love some of the students in my house to sign our house prayer.  It would be a lovely way to round off the year, having practiced a sign a day for the entire school year. I wondered if anyone would be willing to record a video for us that we can use to practice?  I did very basic signing at primary school and remember some basics so can help them learn, but some clear guidance would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance, Melissa Stevenson - Bonus Pastor Catholic College   The prayer is: We pray to you, St John Fisher, to help us be outspoken in the truth. We hope that, like you, we will be dignified in our words and actions. St John Fisher, pray for us. Amen.
