    • Hi everyone! I'm a postgraduate student and I'm learning BSL because I want to be more inclusive in communicating and meeting new people. I grew up signing Makaton with my family, but it's been a long time and I've forgotten most of it... the sign for 'biscuit' has always stuck with me, and while I think that might be one of the most important signs, I'm looking forward to learning much more!
    • Hi, i recently completed a course in makaton which i use the sign when asking him to do something or going places, like car, or bed, please and thankyou, he can do a couple when he wants too 😁  we also watch a lot of mr tumble and we have a singing with sign dvd from a charity called singing hands which is great, he is only 18months but he loves watching anything with signing on it!

    • Hi there, Hope you are all enjoying learning to sign! Despite being diagnosed with a hearing impairment at age 13, with likelihood being I've had one since early childhood, I have never been given support to learn sign language as a supportive communication facility. I do wonder if this is because sign language is not something people know, so it wouldn't have been much help. It's why we need to all play a part in learning some sign. We don't know who we are going to meet who uses sign. You

Honestly I never understood how learning to communicate with others could make such a difference for the person and also for myself, it opens up a whole new level of trust and relationship which is priceless.  I have always wanted to learn to sign, and started to learn singing with si
    • Sign language interested me ever since I saw Mr Tumble on TV as a kid 😂  I love learning languages, and I've kept meaning to actually learn BSL for a few years now. I've found it hard just using youtube and learning random words, and not having anyone to practise with, so I kept losing motivation. One video pointed out how much more difficult masks make it for deaf and hard of hearing people to understand what other people are saying, removing the option of lipreading,  so now is a gre
    • Hi everyone! I'm a hearing person, and I'm currently in my final year of a maths degree. While I've picked up a few random signs in the past, I'm now taking the British-sign beginner course, so I can put more effort into learning BSL, in a structured way. I've wanted to learn BSL for quite a while, and now I've got the time and resources for it! Looking forward to learning to sign with you all!
