Hi, I'm Linda. I have been gradually losing my hearing since my teens (now aged 46) and it has now reached the point where hearing aids don't help (cochlear implant not advised in my case). I had been meaning to start learning BSL for a while, but was put off by the high cost of classes as I now have no income. (I can't help feeling BSL classes should be subsidized for deafened adults as I think they are for children born deaf!) So was very pleased to find the "pay as you can" offer on the british-sign website and have been ploughing through the online lessons, finding them very well structured and interesting. I'm currently marooned in New Zealand (long story) but hope that when I return to the UK I'll be able to connect with other BSL learners to practice with. Wishing everyone a joyful day!
