Hello everyone ...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My name is Rachael and I'm 28 years old.  I live in Wigan, Greater Manchester and have a background as a primary school teacher, though I now work for a cruise line as part of their youth team.  I have always wanted to learn BSL and figured this whole lockdown was the perfect time to start.  I have also been using a page on Facebook (Sign Along With Us) in order to learn some popular songs using SSE which I have found really enjoyable and useful in learning a number of other signs.

Hope everyone is doing well and managing to keep their chin up during this difficult time.  Remember to find the good in everyday.

Stay magical 🦄 x

    • Hi! I’m Emily, I was a CoDa (child of deaf adult) between ages of 5 and 12 as we used BSL at home to communicate with my stepdad who was deaf.    I recently watched a show with a deaf actress in who used ASL and it reminded me that I know quite a lot of basic BSL but I want to brush up on my skills so I can effectively communicate with any BSL users I come across! It’s also a fun hobby ☺️
