Hi all, my name is Via! I'm picking up BSL during lockdown for a number of reasons:

1) I need something to do and have always wanted to learn BSL

2) It's something else to mention at job interviews and when I get to Uni

3) I want to work using the arts, especially drama and theatre, to help people build their skills and confidence. This is called Applied Theatre or Applied Arts, and I believe that no-one should be excluded from it. Most people use it with children, anyone living with learning difficulties or mental health issues or in prisons, hospitals or homeless shelters, and I want to be able to communicate with as many people I might come across as possible!

4) I think signing is a really beautiful language to watch, and I want to be able to understand it when I see people doing it.

      Hi  everyone, this is my first post on the forum.  I work as part of the Front of House Team in a theatre and I am interested in learning some sign language to be able to communicate more easily with the many members of the deaf community who come to the theatre. So far I am doing ok in the comfort of my own home but under pressure I get flustered.  Does anyone else find the same problem? I think a lot is down to constant repetition and practice.

      Hello everyone 🙂 I'm Layne. I am about to take my BSL202 and BSL203 at the start of next week 😬 I luckily passed BSL201 last week 😌 I am based in India so it is tricky to find people to practice with. If anyone is up super early in the UK and looking for someone to converse with I am 5.5 hours ahead so will be around! Thank you 🙏
