Introducing Myself

Recommended Posts

Hello All

I am new here, undertaking my first BSL course. I have decided to study BSL as I am a teacher in a college with several deaf students. Although they have interpreters, I want to be able to talk to them directly sometimes and so decided to get to grips with at least the basics. I teach maths, mainly GCSE resit and functional skills qualifications. It has been really interesting to understand the differences in grammar between BSL and English- it has made it clearer to me why my students struggle sometimes.

Aside from teaching, I am a mum to a 5 year old girl with autistic traits, have two cats, one puppy and enjoy reading. I read anything, and read frequently. I also have cauda equina syndrome- I have chronic ongoing sciatica, back pain and other symptoms. I live in North West England and teach in Liverpool.
