BSL NEWBIE - Looking for someone to practice with

I am Bethan and I have only recently started learning BSL. I actually learnt the BSL alphabet from a poster in the toilet of a cocktail bar and have been inspired to learn ever since! I am a Civil Servant (Energy and Climate policy) and trained facilitator and I am excited to be able to draw this new skill into my work environment. Probably a little early but I am definitely keen in a few weeks to practice my signing with someone else.  Let me know if you are keen.

If anyone knows the sign for civil servant it would be great to know!

Hi All,

Sorry for delay in replying. Unfortunately had a few busy weeks and so have struggled to put time aside for the course. I could arrange a call next week, for anyone interested, to do some introductions and then set up some more regular practices in the new year?

Let me know if interested.

Bethan

    • Hi all, I am Police Community Support Officer and hope to develop sign language to allow me to communicate with others who rely on the skills of BSL.
    • Hi everyone. Name me what, Jeff. I've been basic signing for about 10 years now after getting a basic lesson from the company that I used to work for. My aim now, is to become fully competent within BSL and gain a qualification, and then look for any kind of employment that relates to BSL.

    • Hello everyone. I am incredibly new to BSL (I've had one class at introductory level so far but I intend to pursue). I am 48 and I am experiencing some hearing loss but really I want to learn to sign to give myself more communication options and to be able to communicate with as many people as I can.
    • Hello everyone, For my introduction to British Sign Language training, I am to post here my reasons to why I am dedicated to learn BSL. My previous role was a teaching and learning assistant at a secondary school and my current role is an art instructor in a day service for adults with learning difficulties. I also volunteer with the NHS doing art sessions with long term patients. After my BA Fine Art course at the Open University, I wish to apply for a masters MSc in Art Therapy. I fe
    • Hello! I am very new here and I would like recommendations of online BSL courses where I can learn online in the evening. Cost isn’t an issue but it needs to be money well spent.  For context, am a lifelong hearing aid wearer with no BSL knowledge apart from finger spelling the alphabet… slowly.    Thanks in advance.
    • Hi there  Name we what - Michelle...I have a hearing loss and wear cross aids. Hearing is tricky in many situations such as shops, restaurants and busy places. I am learning BSL with my adult daughter, so that we can sign together when hearing is tough. It will definitely help in fitness classes where, with the air conditioning and music I can barely hear instructions.  We are looking to connect with others to help me learn and embed signs. Please do connect with us.  Mrs Mi :)
