Hello my name is Megan. Ive decided to learn because it helps me to communicate when its too hard for me to speak. At times I get overwhelmed and struggle to use my voice. It helps my partner too, when we are trying to communicate when im having dissociative episodes and seizures etc.

I have had an interest in learning BSL because I attended a recent event but was not able to communicate with someone who could sign only. As he could lip read we did communicate but I wanted to learn BSL to pay forward

Hello, I am learning sign language due to my daughter being partially deaf at birth. I thought it would be good for me to learn it and hopefully incorporate into teaching her to talk so she will always have that option to fall back on. -

Hello fellow signers, I am looking for people to practice my BSL signing level 1 in and around the kingston area (KT1). Something like a week night for an hour or so, in a pub or cafe. Cheers Glen

I have had an interest in learning BSL for many years because I find it an interesting language which is helpful to include more people in society rather than exclude. I am neurodiverse and a kinaesthetic learner, so this is a functionally accessible language for me to (hopefully) learn, understand and implement. Alongside the D/deaf community for whom BSL is primarily created and used, I have seen some people find it useful in the Neurodiverse community for various reasons including nonverbal communication. I think it's an exciting opportunity to be able to communicate with more people and learn about the D/deaf community and culture as well.
