I’m learning BSL online with the Introduction to BSL course. I’ve always wanted to learn it (I’ve known fingerspelling since my teens). But since the documentary with Rose Ayling-Ellis, and taking to a fundraiser at Manchester Victoria, I think everyone should learn BSL. Some of my relatives and friends are slightly hard of hearing, my voice isn’t loud, and it can be hard to communicate in noisy environments. I don’t want to be left with no way of communicating when I’m old. And I want to make spaces like church more inclusive. So, if anyone has resources for signing worship songs, that would be great!

    • Someone close to me has begun a petition with Parliament so as to mandate deaf awareness training for all employees - breaking down the biggest communication barriers for all deaf individuals👇  https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/774848?fbclid=IwdGRleATW-jtwZG9mBWZkaWQWULffKrJsTECdE2gVBnPjfAJhAFCUbWV4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkCjY2Mjg1NjgzNzkAAR4yokbkINDEuMMBavY997mwLeC3AgfMnXUuy50Os0Rv-EI2lsfv3acM0CLeBQ_aem_j77J9Izv5jBqeD4bOFE8lw&utm_id=97757_v0_s00_e0_tv2_a1demonuwg7mou A fair equal world and a world that allows a simple transaction of communication. Without deaf individuals feeling isolated when they’re shopping, or to feel pushed into making more of an effort simply just to talk.   In a dominantly hearing world, they are leading this change for the better. For what’s right. So please, help them fight! - sign the link, it takes one minute if that, have a read, the world is about to become a slightly better place. Even with your vote to make this greater difference. 🙏 🌍  🤟
    • Hi All  My name is Eileen - I started my BSL journey a few weeks back with the intention simply to learn another language and be able to interact with the Deaf Community freely.
    • Hi my name is Christina, I am 17 years old and going into year 13. I have always wanted to learn sign language. I have never met anyone who was deaf but I knew a number of people who has communication difficulties or were extremely shy. I tried my best using symbols and things but I always had my heart set on learning an actual language. I think it is probably one of the coolest things someone can learn, and it should be taught across the UK in schools. I enjoy crocheting, reading, puzzles and music. I am also a huge Justin Bieber fan haha. I am very grateful to be taking the British Sign Level 1 course and I am excited for all that is to come
    • Learning British Sign Language is such a rewarding and expressive journey! Exploring why people choose to learn BSL—whether to connect with the Deaf community, bridge communication gaps, learn a visually rich language, or embrace inclusivity—makes for an inspiring topic.Worth checking out for anyone curious about the beauty and importance of sign language!roulettino casino
    • Good afternoon everyone, About 1 year ago I lost my hearing in one ear. I had no obvious reason to, but I left it 13 days hoping it would get better, I didn’t understand the need to get it checked out. I’m have an MRI this week so I will find out why. After lots of meds and checkups, some hearing has returned. In the last year,  I’ve had to adjust and  I catch myself having to lip read more and my other ear is working overtime.  I even catch myself using my hands for communicating more. This course is to help me , but also my job, as I never even considered before that I could use elements of BSL in veterinary medicine. I’m a registered veterinary nurse and we get dogs and cats with hearing loss or pre/ post TECA surgeries. I use BSL on my cat, even though she can hear.  Just a simple movement or action and she knows where to go/ what it means. (She is having to wear a lot of bells so I can hear her.)So it’s for the animals too.
