Hi there. I'm Amy and I'm brand new to BSL, I'm currently going to weekly Level 1 classes. I already knew the alphabet as my Nana had a poster of the signs in her house but I've been wanting to learn BSL properly for most of my life really. I have only now been able to afford classes. My Nana is hard of hearing (80% deaf in one ear and 50% deaf in the other), and my dad is starting to lose his hearing more too. So mostly I'd like to learn it for them as my Nana knows some BSL and since starting this course my dad has said he's going to go on a course too. My hearing isn't great either, it's only gonna get worse, and I'm on the autistic spectrum so sometimes I feel non-verbal so I'm hoping BSL will help me in that aspect too. Anyway I've waffled for long enough. Nice to meet y'all.

      Hi my name is Gemma, I have just started the introduction to BSL course. I have always been interested in learning BSL. My son has just started learning it in secondary school as part of an after school club. So I thought this would be perfect timing as we can learn it together so that's why I have enrolled on the online course.

      Hi all my name is Dixie and I have wated to learn BSL for a while now as my job takes me to lots of different and difffercult situations as i am a fire fighter and on one occaction i was in charge of an incident (RTC) and one of the causlties was deaf and was very scared and unsure of what was happening. I felt ocmpletly hopeless and so upset i could not communicate with him to  give reassurance and help.

      I've wanted to learn sign language since 2020, after I had learnt how Deaf and HoH people had difficulty reading lips because of the masks, but because BSL wasn't widely taught to hearing people, communication was more difficult for people in the deaf community. I had even come across this course funnily enough, when I was looking for lessons, but got overwhelmed with university exams and shelved the idea for the time being. Then a deaf charity came to my door to ask me to sign up for donations

      I've always wanted to learn BSL and even got the course as a Christmas present one year but I'm not great at sticking to things and life got in the way. However, a month or two ago my husband lost his hearing overnight and we suddenly found ourselves in a position where we could only communicate by writing everything down. Without technology and voice recognition apps I would have writer's cramp constantly. He is getting better at lip reading but as I have lost a few front teeth so he struggles
