Introduction and a request for help

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm the father of a wonderfully bright, amazing 8 yo who  is deaf and uses a combination of ASL and spoken language to communicate. While he learns ASL at an amazing rate, my swiss cheese brain can't keep up with him. He will stump me with signs that I don't recognize, but I desperately want to understand. The attached video is the sign that he used today. If anyone can help me learn what the sign means, I would be very grateful.

    • Hi everyone! I'm a new member. I've checked out this place, and it's awesome! I tried to upload a picture but, there to big lol. I'll keep trying. Anyway, I know some ASL. Pretty vague huh, my apologies. Long story short, there was a accident I lost me long term memory, and my short term is iffy. There is a but in there I promise lol. I use to know ASL. For some reason I am connecting with signing. I mean I understand it for the most part. I want to continue at it. I'm hard of hearing and I have Minerese Disease. I'm open to making some friends and chatting. Please know I'm a very patient person, hope you are.  Thanks for reading and hope to get some replies.  EM 😊
    • Hi, It's not a poem or a song, but I figured that my post belonged in this creative section.  I thought users might be interested in a simple Happy Birthday ecard that I have animated using ASL.  If it is well received, I hope to do more in the future. Here's a link:  https://www.123greetings.com/birthday/happy_birthday/signing_birthday_bear.html I hope you like it.
    • Hello, I am a senior in high school,  learning ASL. I was talking to my teacher, when she mentioned that you can only get your name in ASL with someone deaf giving it to you. Is this true?
    • Hi Lori -  Let's start with the easy question - what time zone are you in?
