My Introduction!

Hi Everyone!

Starting it off with:

I just so happened to stumble across this website in search for an online practicing partner particularly in the sign language community.

I love to learn and sign language is no exception to this.  I love the way you use not only your personality with each sign, but the way each emotion is conveyed within that sign as well.

I was actually quite intrigued with this way of communication/language since I was a little girl.  I felt and still do feel as if sign language should be a requirement that everyone should know.  In doing that, it will not only help the deaf community feel more included with our way of living, but vice versa.  Im also in the medical field; in-turn finding this way of communication a lot better on the patients then forcing them to speak when they do not want to or can't.

Good evening my name is Alisha Daniels and live in the Spring Hill, Florida area. I’m a flight attendant and recently have been getting more and more hearing impaired passengers. The reason why I wanted to learn was because I felt it was so disrespectful to keep asking if they could read lips! I decided to start teaching myself then stumbled upon a class in my area.
I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I had to get my feet wet and learn! I’m nowhere near perfect, but I can at least hold a conversation AND “sign” to passengers. Whether if it’s something to eat or drink, or “signing” the safety demonstration.
I’m a firm believer of “if you don’t use it, you lose it” I’m hoping to find someone to practice with along this journey of mine!
