  1. I started the British sign language course a while ago to refresh my knowledge, as originally learnt BSL nearly 20 years ago. I am now recapping it before trying to complete it. I was inspired to return after watching Rose Ayling-Ellis when she was teaching older people in a retirement village. And knew how great the language is. It reminded me of when I spent time with a local Deaf community eating Pizza and chatting. Lemonade went over me due to vigorous signing. As very emotional and Deaf sign users more Italian in a way with how passionate they get when talking. I just laughed about the Lemonade. As just one of the things that can occur. As a hearing person I felt very accepted and included. I also went to Bristol for a silence is golden weekend. And we had to practice signing in lessons. Then go into Bristol seeing the sights order food and drink all in BSL. All food times etc was all in BSL so immersive. Better than going to Deaf club as most times I went they had topic discussions and hearing guest speakers. So interpreter present. Much better to not hear an interpreter when trying to really learn a language. I think once get my confidence back up I may find a local Deaf community again. I know at my local College they did do a sign cafe. I am a youth worker so could go there. And did for a little while volunteer in a Deaf/hearing youth club. Mostly Deaf young people.
