Is there a sign in BSL for 'linguist'? I've done a lot of online research to try and find out if there is one, but so far the closest I've come up with is 'language-person'.
I'm working on my Translation Masters dissertation, and as part of it I'm translating a book from French to English that has a Deaf character in. My conundrum comes from the fact that a character's sign names is 'the linguist' (when translated literally from French), but I've not been able to find out if this is a sign that exists in BSL. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it!
Additionally, am I right in thinking that BSL doesn't use determiners like 'the'? So this character's sign name wouldn't have 'the' in it?
