My name is Wendy & I am a nurse. My mam is hard of hearing & has bilateral BAHA's. The BAHA's totally changed her life. Before they came along she would wear a hearing aid in both ears & she constantly had ear infection after infection. Her ENT specialist informed her that what little hearing she did have would be gone in a few years. He said to learn lip reading or BSL. She chose lip reading but didn't want to go on her own to the weekly sessions, so I accompanied her. That was 1992. Fast forward to 1996 & her ENT specialist told her about Bone Anchored Hearing Aids. The literally changed her life! So, I'm a nurse who can lip read but I wanted to learn some BSL so I could at least say to a hearing impaired patient "hello, my name is Wendy & I am a nurse". Thanks to this course I can do that now. It's a great course!
