I am a nurse currently recovering from covid. When I was younger I used to sign for a lady who was both deaf and blind, I never gained any formal qualification as I was only young. I have wanted to learn BSL since but I haven’t had the time to do so. I thought that it would be a good time to learn now i’m stuck at home unable to do anything.
Can anybody recommend any ways to utilise these skills once I have passed the course?
I am mindful that it is rare I get a patient who uses sign language and often they aren’t well enough to communicate. I would really like the opportunity to keep these skills up to date. Any ideas?
