Good afternoon everyone,
I'm learning BSL in the hope I can one day use it to communicate with d/Deaf people, people with limited hearing and anyone else who uses BSL.
It's also for days I find talking difficult, since I'm also autistic and selective mutism (not a very helpful name if you don't choose it, personally) is a thing. That still requires other people to understand what I'm signing though, so it's definitely more of an ideal than a real motivation.
Finally, I'd like to be able to sign at work. I don't plan to become an interpreter and I'm not involved in patient care. It just seems like a good skill to have. I don't understand why BSL isn't taught in schools, honestly.
It's nice to meet you!
