I'm Carly,  I'm nearly 25 and probably like a lot of you, figured whilst stuck in a lock down? What better time to learn sign language! I've been meaning to learn for a long time as I am profoundly deaf and lip-reading is how I communicate 90% of the time. I started losing my hearing when I was about 4/5 and then lost the majority of my hearing when I was 12. Something got stuck down my right ear and went unnoticed by doctors and the like, so cut to 12 months later and it cut off the circulation to my ear and I became completely deaf in my right ear. My left ear only has about 30% hearing, so I tend to play a constant game of blankety-blank when holding a conversation. For the most part, I tend to hold my own and can usually keep up with a conversation of 2 people but as I'm also a supervisor in retail I wanted to be able to communicate with other deaf people beyond being able to fluently lip-read. I did start to learn how to sign in college but that was a pretty long time ago and because I had no one to practice with, I lost most of it. 

 

So long story short (I'm a rambler sorry) I decided to take this time when I have literally nothing else to do, to learn how to sign properly, beyond finger spelling, in case I lose my hearing completely.
