So my name is Melanie, I'm 22 years old and I am hearing. I am a full time student studying BA Hons Musical Theatre and Professional Dance. I made the decision to start learning BSL because I am extremely passionate about languages and always found sign language so fascinating. I love using my body to express myself and I pick up movement fast, so the idea of learning a language that is based off of movements and body language really appealed to me. I remembered learning the BSL alphabet as a Brownie and have carried that knowledge from childhood through to adulthood, so why not add to it? I'm very happy and excited to be beginning this journey and I hope to find my place in this wonderful community with this incredible language.

      Hi  everyone, this is my first post on the forum.  I work as part of the Front of House Team in a theatre and I am interested in learning some sign language to be able to communicate more easily with the many members of the deaf community who come to the theatre. So far I am doing ok in the comfort of my own home but under pressure I get flustered.  Does anyone else find the same problem? I think a lot is down to constant repetition and practice.

      Hello everyone 🙂 I'm Layne. I am about to take my BSL202 and BSL203 at the start of next week 😬 I luckily passed BSL201 last week 😌 I am based in India so it is tricky to find people to practice with. If anyone is up super early in the UK and looking for someone to converse with I am 5.5 hours ahead so will be around! Thank you 🙏
