Hi,

My name is Julie and I have always wanted to learn BSL but never seemed to have the time before. As a shielding person in this current crisis, I now have lots of time

I am partially deaf and wear a hearing aid and grew up in a hearing community, relying heavily on lip reading.

I work in the NHS and have always relied on interpreters when seeing people who are Deaf. I can communicate to a small extent, using Makaton, with children who are Deaf or hearing impaired and I would love to be able to communicate directly using some BSL, even at a basic level.

Really enjoying the course so far, and remembering more than I thought I would.

As I progress it would be lovely to be able to practice what I learn

Welcome. Firstly, thank you for all your incredible work with the NHS and secondary, I hope you are staying healthy. It must be hard shielding but it’s good that you’re are doing something constructive to use up your time.
