Heya,

My names Alllanah and i have recently decided to take up learning BSL due to needing not only a different career path but life path.

I went to college for 3 years studying Art and Design but realized this isn't where i wanted to be in the real world as its very difficult to get into, extremely competitive.

 I work in retail and would really like to change my life around and have a purpose to get out of bed in the morning. To help someone during this short stay, we call life. My Auntie was the one to get my mum and myself into this as this is her job, the lady she helps is actually both deaf and blind. Meeting this lady made me realize how grateful i should be for what i have been lucky enough to be born with and so i am taking a massive leap, fingers crossed i don't get to distracted and good luck to everyone on here trying to do the same thing.

      Hello! My name is Katherine, I am a British-Mexican linguist, and am beginning to work as a part-time primary school teaching assistant. I also do a bit of English/Spanish translating and interpreting on the side. Growing up with 2 languages and 2 cultures, moving back and forth between countries, resulted in certain language and speech difficulties, making sign languages very attractive to me personally. I started learning Mexican sign language years ago but never continued, and upon resettling back here I am finally committed to learn sign language, and find BSL fascinating. I look forward to communicate in BSL with other students as well as within the deaf community, whom I'm very curious to meet. Cheers!
