Hi everyone, my name is Jamielee and I have just started to learn BSL. I have 2 brothers who both wear hearing aids and can sign but growing up I never really felt the need to learn it as they could still communicate with me verbally. As part of my job I am an inclusion and diversity champion and working with the public I thought this is a great way that I can develop myself to help others feel more included in my Work place.

Hi, I'm Jo and have today starting learning BSL. My brother is deaf and as a child I wanted to learn BSL but as my brother never learned, it just never happened. He has always got by using lip reading. After completing my Teaching Assistant course last year, and watching the amazing Rose on Strictly I decided to go for it. I also figured it could be a valuable skill as a TA.

      Thank you! I'll be enrolling in the online course offered on British Sign. I've not done it yet as I'm currently enrolled in a French course which finishes in 3 weeks. Then, when I'm back in the UK, I'll see how I can step up my learning. I guess there's no substitute for real-life, real-time human practice. Can't wait to get stuck in.
