Hello, my name is Bob! I'm 21 from Lancashire. I lost the majority of my hearing without reason when I was around 13, it caused a lot of damage to my mental health as I became isolated this meant that I had to drop out of secondary school and thus never achieved my basic GCSE's despite being on track to be one of the highest graded pupils in the whole school. From a young age I always wanted to join the army or the RAF or be a commercial pilot. When I lost my hearing however, these dreams were shattered and it still breaks my heart to this day, to know I will never be able to achieve those things. I have always struggled by myself and felt very alone since I lost my hearing, I was obviously brought up with hearing culture and have always been too anxious to attempt to join my local d/Deaf community however I'm hoping that by starting here, I may eventually make some progress and find my home in the community.

      Hi  everyone, this is my first post on the forum.  I work as part of the Front of House Team in a theatre and I am interested in learning some sign language to be able to communicate more easily with the many members of the deaf community who come to the theatre. So far I am doing ok in the comfort of my own home but under pressure I get flustered.  Does anyone else find the same problem? I think a lot is down to constant repetition and practice.

      Hello everyone 🙂 I'm Layne. I am about to take my BSL202 and BSL203 at the start of next week 😬 I luckily passed BSL201 last week 😌 I am based in India so it is tricky to find people to practice with. If anyone is up super early in the UK and looking for someone to converse with I am 5.5 hours ahead so will be around! Thank you 🙏
