Hello.  I am new to this forum.  I recently completed BSL Level 2 and am very keen to proceed to Level 3.  I've always loved languages, and during Covid lockdown decided to learn a challenging language.  Having learnt BSL, I came to realise that it's actually even more expressive than spoken English, with having to use signs and non manual features.  I've been told that with Level 3, it's not only studying but I also have to be involved in the Deaf community and I would expect this is for practice.  I'm a bit stuck at the moment because while I am keen to sign up to Level 3, I'm having problems finding places where I could be involved and physically practice BSL.  I live in London. Also my study format/pattern has to accord me flexibility.  Not sure if anyone has had issues like me.

      Hello! My name is Katherine, I am a British-Mexican linguist, and am beginning to work as a part-time primary school teaching assistant. I also do a bit of English/Spanish translating and interpreting on the side. Growing up with 2 languages and 2 cultures, moving back and forth between countries, resulted in certain language and speech difficulties, making sign languages very attractive to me personally. I started learning Mexican sign language years ago but never continued, and upon resettling back here I am finally committed to learn sign language, and find BSL fascinating. I look forward to communicate in BSL with other students as well as within the deaf community, whom I'm very curious to meet. Cheers!
