Hi all, my name is Sam {Samantha} I am 50 years old, and have just started my journey to learning BSL.  It's something that i always wanted to learn but i always felt very out of my depth and didnt think i would be able to do it. Then my beautiful grandson was born almost 4  years ago, due to lockdowns etc his deaf diagnosis didnt come untill he was 3 years and 2 months old, he has profound deafness, due to the lack of diagnosis and him being non verbal, we started with makaton ourselves as a family, and now we are learning BSL, he's an absolute star at learning the signs himself, and is awaiting possibility of cochlear implants. so here i am an old bird learning this amazing thing, im a wee bit slow and sometimes get the vowels muddled up, but im giving it my all.
