Hello everyone,

I am an Assistant head teacher and English teacher in a secondary special needs school. Although we don't have any deaf students at present I wanted to learn sign language as I have a hearing disorder called Otosclerosis. I have had hearing aids for 5 years now and my hearing is not improving so want to be prepared for the future although I am very good at lip reading. Having suffered from hearing deficiencies since childhood, I think that learning sign language in school as a lesson is really important for all children just like learning a foreign language. Since starting the course I have been teaching some of my students sign language and they have thoroughly enjoyed using it.
