Hello everyone, 

My name is Jeanette but everyone calls me Jeni, I am a mum of four, ages 13, 15, 16 & 20. My two youngest have complex needs, one of which is mutism (selective mutism) so we are learning sign language as a way for them to communicate when their anxiety is high enough they physically can't speak. I am finding it hard as my 15 year old is ambidextrous but predominately Left handed and my 13 year old is right handed, I can use both. I have always been interested in Sign Language, I used to work for a leading fast fit centre and hand both deaf and hearing customers, I learnt enough basics for the job to help me get by but that was nearly 18 years ago now and my brain isn't as co-operative these days at storing information. I'm looking forward to my learning journey, and I hope to speak with some of you lovely lot soon.

      Hi  everyone, this is my first post on the forum.  I work as part of the Front of House Team in a theatre and I am interested in learning some sign language to be able to communicate more easily with the many members of the deaf community who come to the theatre. So far I am doing ok in the comfort of my own home but under pressure I get flustered.  Does anyone else find the same problem? I think a lot is down to constant repetition and practice.

      Hello everyone 🙂 I'm Layne. I am about to take my BSL202 and BSL203 at the start of next week 😬 I luckily passed BSL201 last week 😌 I am based in India so it is tricky to find people to practice with. If anyone is up super early in the UK and looking for someone to converse with I am 5.5 hours ahead so will be around! Thank you 🙏
