Hi Chris . Very jealous that you are at Preston doing the degree . I so wanted to do this when I was younger. I hope you enjoy the course and succeed in pursuing a career in Deaf awareness and language.

Hi my name is Trevlin I live in NorthWest England . I am deaf myself since age 3 from measles damage but have wanted to involve myself in deaf /Deaf culture and language for a long time. I hoped in my younger years to study a Uclan to do the deaf studies degree but that didn't happen. I am now studying level one sign language at college and love it but as I'm now in my 70th decade I may have left it to late . I would love to know any other potential signers and see how people are going on .I'm enjoying this course as an add on to college in an attempt to keep the grey cells firing .

Hi everyone! A little about me is that I have a neurological condition, Hemiplegic Migraines, that can take away my ability to speak for days at a time and for the past few years I've struggled to communicate in any other possible way; text to speech apps (which is time comsuming),just accepting that I have to have someone guess what im trying to say, etc. So I decided to try learning BSL in the hope that I can at least communicate more directly. Hopefully it'll be more effective and efficient way of communicating during my HM attacks.

Hi, I'm Neil from Kent. I am fully hearing. I am a complete beginner and trying to learn as had an interacting with a deaf person and realised how utterly ignorant i was! I then learnt a couple of signs to be able to say hello / good evening etc to be polite.... and guess it spiralled from there.

I initially started a Facilities Management BSc at the University of Lancashire, however after finding it wasn't for me, I decided to see what other degrees they had on offer. LUCKILY, I found BSL and Deaf studies! I am so happy to be learning BSL and about Deaf culture. It's hard! but worth it.. "I KNOW I PUT THIS ON THE WRONG THREAD!" AHHHHH Chris
