Hi, not sure if I'm doing this right for introductions.. I've been trying to learn sign for long time.. Have issues learning new stuff in general, Autistic adult, 47..decided it was time to just keep trying.. Some call me Catt, others call me Jo..whichever.. definitely want to learn sign and get on the path should've been on long ago; for friends, maybe part time work and love of the language, since I was a young kid.. Still in very beginning stages and have trouble not understanding finger spelling, but being able to make it a word in my head, have to write each letter down as signed to see it I guess.. learning on lingvano app.. -

That’s a really thoughtful direction for your studies, especially as an SLP where flexible communication methods can make such a difference for clients. ASL is a full language with its own grammar and cultural context, so pairing structured learning (like alphabet and basic vocabulary) with real interaction or video-based practice tends to help a lot. Many learners also find it useful to follow Deaf creators and structured lesson series to build fluency beyond isolated signs.
