Hello! I have also been searching for friends that know ASL and it would be an honor if you could teach me. This is my first year in college learning ASL and its quite hard for me to practice because I dont have anyone to understand me or tell me if im doing it correctly besides my professor and we only meet 2 days of the week. So if you're up for it so am i!

I am deaf and use british sign language

I understand how different sign languages are naturally adapted and developed throughout the world but I have never understood why a universal governing body has not been created to help universalize sign language around the world

    • How'd y'all, my name is James, but generally I go by JE. I am a deaf / hard of hearing individual in New York State. I was raised in an oral school and home, it was hard but I learned. I didn't even know now ASL, or schools for the Deaf existed until I was in my 20's. I am a mechanic by profession and work in an industrial laundry. I have self-taught myself ASL, but don't get much chance to utilize or practice it. I am hoping that will all change here. I look forward to learning and growing here, if you know of any other deaf chat platforms please do share. God Bless you all!
