hi im ellie, im turning 17 in november and im also a trans girl! im hearing and im in my second year of taking ASL! id like to get to know you and be friends! i love meeting other trans people :D

      Hey there! I saw your question on the forum about the "COOK" and "KITCHEN" signs. It's super common to get them mixed up when you're starting out, so no worries at all! Here’s a quick breakdown of the difference: The sign for COOK is an action. You typically mimic flipping something in a pan (like a pancake) with a flat hand, or stirring a pot. The sign for KITCHEN is a location. You tap the heel of your flat, dominant hand a couple of times on the back of your non-dominant hand, which is also flat. It represents a countertop or surface in a kitchen. From your description, it sounds like the second sign you couldn't figure out might have been "KITCHEN" again, or perhaps a different verb related to cooking. In ASL, the context of the sentence makes the meaning clear. Keep practicing—you're on the right track!
