Hi everyone, I'm about to do my first exam where i will be introducing myself in BSL. Unfortunately, our teacher hasn't explained sentence structure very well, and although I've researched a lot online I'm worried I may be getting it all wrong ! I wondered if someone would be able to restructure my script below into BSL sentences so I can study and learn from it, it's quite long but I would really appreciate it. Many thanks guys!! "Hello, my name is Ann. I am 27 years old. I work as a bartender. I am studying an MA in therapy. I live in Essex, it took me 30 mins by car to arrive here. I have a sister called Maya, she is 30 years old and lives in London with her husband. My parents also live in Essex. My dad's name is Jake, he is 58 years old. My mum's name is Leah, she is 54 years old. I have two pets, a cat called tom and a dog called Harry. I love travelling, last week I went on holiday to Portugal for 5 days. It was sunny but windy. Last year I went to Japan, Vietnam and Thailand for 9 weeks, Japan was my favourite because of the food. In Vietnam, I took the bus a lot, my longest journey was 12 hours. I love to sing, my favourite Genre is Jazz. I sometimes perform locally to earn some extra money. I also play the saxophone and piano as a hobby."

Back learning BSL after a very long break, learning it as I am a Support Worker and a guy I support is Deaf, not only that but I’d like to be more inclusive with my communication and I’m hoping long term to become an Art Psycotherapist so it would be useful for ensuring people use their choice of communication. Am keen to learn more:)

Hi all, I used to be proficient at BSL, but that was 30+ years ago. Then I moved to the States and became proficient in ASL. Now I am back here, living in Scotland, and I have to retrain my brain for BSL. Here's hoping!

Hello, Nice to meet you all. My name is Jasmine and I have recently started to learn BSL. I wanted to see if I could learn a language based on muscle memory because I used to play piano and also wanted to pick up another skill. Since starting two or three weeks ago, it's the happiest I've ever been. There is something so fulfilling about learning BSL and I can't wait to get better. I am excited to be on this journey and hopefully use this new language one day.

Hi Chris . Very jealous that you are at Preston doing the degree . I so wanted to do this when I was younger. I hope you enjoy the course and succeed in pursuing a career in Deaf awareness and language. -
I really hope that you will find the course useful. It cannot be easy for you but communication is so important and I can truly appreciate why you want to do this i really hope that it helps you ..Good luck .
-
Hi my name is Trevlin I live in NorthWest England . I am deaf myself since age 3 from measles damage but have wanted to involve myself in deaf /Deaf culture and language for a long time. I hoped in my younger years to study a Uclan to do the deaf studies degree but that didn't happen. I am now studying level one sign language at college and love it but as I'm now in my 70th decade I may have left it to late . I would love to know any other potential signers and see how people are going on .I'm enjoying this course as an add on to college in an attempt to keep the grey cells firing .
