Hi I'm Jane and I'm 53. During lockdown I found myself with too much free time! I always wanted to learn sign language as I felt it was something everyone should do from school age. I finally had the time to devote to learning and so as well as starting to learn Italian - ciao tutti! - write a book about my Mother's heritage (she was adopted age 5 and had no knowledge of the those lost years), I started BSL. It is the most interesting and satisfying activity I do all week. I feel as if a whole new whole has opened up and I can begin to communicate with Deaf people in their expressive and fascinating language, rather than expecting them to communicate in English. I have a long way to go! But I am enjoying the process and keen to develop...
