Hi there - I’ve been deaf since a child and this has got progressively worse over the years and I am now profoundly deaf. I am now feeling very isolated and am shunning social interaction because it is just too hard! I feel as though I am stuck between two worlds at the moment - the deaf world and the hearing world and not being able to communicate successfully with either so am hoping that learning BSL will bring those worlds closer together for me. Started college 5 weeks ago taking a course in BSL - it’s hard going, but it’s fun. Am also on a journey of assessment towards getting a cochlear implant, so fingers crossed I’m eligible!
