Hi, I'm Laura. I am a Social Worker who has recently moved from Child Protection to Adult Social Care. I want to learn sign language as I feel it will help me in my role, as a lot of the adults I work with use BSL or Makaton. I've also been really interested in sign language from a young age, and think that everyone should learn to a certain level - schools teach French, German, Spanish etc., but I think the majority of us are more likely to interact with someone who uses BSL than we would be to go abroad and use a foreign language - maybe I'm wrong in that assumption, but it's something I've often thought about! I'm a complete beginner - other than a fingerspelling the alphabet, and learning a few Makaton signs from Mr Tumble, I'm completely new to signing so I'm excited to be learning! :)
